At some point during or after Arkansas' 5-1 win over Sam Houston State, the more intriguing question shifted from the result of the game to where the Hogs would play in the super regionals if they won. With the victory now secure, the question becomes a little bit more significant.
First, the win: Arkansas rapped out 12 hits, and Sam Houston State helped them out with three errors en route to the Razorbacks' five runs. The Hogs pitching staff, meanwhile, scattered seven hits over the course of the game and didn't allow the Bearkats -- yes, that's how they spell it -- on the board until the eighth inning. They didn't walk or hit a batter in nine innings of work.
The super regional site will be decided based on who wins what's shaping up to be a Monday night winner-take-all game between Baylor and Dallas Baptist. If Baylor holds on tonight -- they lead 6-0 as of this writing -- and wins tomorrow, the Hogs are headed to Waco. But if Dallas Baptist can rally tonight or win Monday, then the super regional would either take place at Arkansas or Dallas Baptist. Both are two seeds, but Arkansas probably has the edge in getting to host.
But advancing to the super regional is the most important part of this round, and Arkansas accomplished that much. Any extra edge in the next part of the tournament is just gravy.
