The second annual SEC/Big East Challenge has been set, and there are some potentially good match ups in there. Tip off times are still TBA this far out, but here is the schedule:
THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 29
Kentucky at Notre Dame
Marquette at Florida
South Carolina at St. John's
Seton Hall at LSU
FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 30
Syracuse at Arkansas
Tennessee at Georgetown
DePaul at Auburn
Georgia at South Florida
SATURDAY, DECEMBER 1
Alabama at Cincinnati
Villanova at Vanderbilt
Mississippi State at Providence
Rutgers at Ole Miss
-----
As expected, the newbies Texas A&M and Missouri are not participating just yet.
Thursday is the headlining day from this conference's perspective thanks to being the day that Kentucky is playing. It should be a good matchup with Notre Dame, which is generally a tougher out in the regular season than postseason. Florida-Marquette will be a rematch their Sweet 16 matchup from this year's tournament. Tennessee-Georgetown is the most intriguing game to me on the second day. The Vols came on strong in the second half of last year, so this will be a big early season test to see just how much carries over. Alabama and Vanderbilt are the SEC's headliners in Day 3, and both will be dealing with losses of many important players.
The Big East won last year's challenge eight games to four.
