You'll never guess the way that Petrino kept up with the goings-on while on leave
Okay, you've probably already guessed: via text message. Really.
"Hey Jeff, I'm just sitting around wondering what I should be doing??," Petrino texted. "I just want you to no (sic) how sorry I am that this all happened!!"
Note: This is more emotional than Bobby Petrino ever actually talks in press conferences. The only messages that couldn't be retrieved were those that Petrino deleted. So there's no way of telling what else was on there.
Bobby Petrino's house has been on the market for almost two years
You don't need me to write the punch line on this one, right?
An interesting idea
What about a preseason game or two in college football? That's what Nick Saban seems to be talking about here, and it's an intriguing idea. Of course, that would also take a little bit of the oomph out of the first part of the season. (At least in my opinion, the MLB and NFL opening days aren't quite as exciting in part because we've already seen the teams play, even if in meaningless games.)
Nick Saban take some time off from his Calipari routine
He congratulated the Alabama gymnastics womenfolk and gave them some advice. You know what it was.
Saban congratulated the gymnasts on their regional championship and encouraged them to keep their focus on the process of winning rather than the outcome.
Of course. Saban also asked the gymnastics coach if she had any scholarships she could spare.
There's an opening at Arkansas
Could Mike Bobo actually end up leading a program in the not-too-distant future? Former ESPN analyst Mike Gottfried -- there's a name I haven't heard in a while -- is talking up the Georgia offensive coordinator as head coaching material.
"They won’t have him long," said Gottfried, a former head coach at Pittsburgh and Kansas, among others, and a former ESPN sportscaster. "He will be a head coach real soon."
I'm sure the Georgia fans among us can take it from there.
In case we ever reported on this
One of the lawsuits involving former Alabama player Rolando McClain has been cleared up. One is still out there, but we'll let you follow the link, because we'd hate to have to try to remember later whether we noted it here.
