News started breaking late Tuesday that Bobby Petrino and Arkansas athletics director Jeff Long were meeting. As the meeting dragged on until past the close of business in Arkansas, it looked like Bobby Petrino might actually survive the fallout from his motorcycle wreck, the revelations of his mistress and the paid administrative leave that followed.
Not so much, according to what appears to be original reporting by Joe Schad.

Of course, that could just be one report. But when you put it together with what's being reported out of Fayetteville, things don't look good for the SEC's resident Evil Knievel.
Just saw Nick Petrino. Asked him if he could say anything. He just got in his car and sped off.

It's still early -- way too early to start measuring the impact of this decision on the approaching football season and the overall arc of the Arkansas football program. Oh, yeah, and Arkansas' probably going to need to hire a football coach at some point in the next four months.
If you'll pardon the pun -- buckle up.
