This weekend is definitely the best set of games we've had so far on the season. There are two games matching up top ten teams (using the AP Poll, here), and three more that will help sort out the pecking order in each division. And then there's also Mississippi State at Kentucky. Here's the rundown.

No. 5 playing at No. 6 is going to be the game of the week in just about every circumstance. It also is, if the preseason wisdom is correct, quite possibly the SEC East Championship Game. No game has as much riding on it, as best as we can tell right now, than this one.

A team with no defense facing a team with no offense. A team with no direction against a team that has a direction but can't get started moving in that direction. The train wreck potential here is high.

Mississippi State's sole big win on the year is one in which it had stolen the offensive signs of the other team. It might look that way again this weekend even if they haven't.

Both of these teams are practically begging for a game like this one. Pessimism is creeping into Baton Rouge while optimism is creeping into Gainesville, but neither has played a marquee team yet. The way this game goes should let us know to what extent those emotions are warranted.

This would be a big game for Vandy to win in its quest for back-to-back bowls. This would be a big game for Missouri to win in its quest to be taken seriously in the SEC.

Here the Rebels welcome their second opponent from the Lone Star State on the season, a phenomenon that Hugh Freeze has probably used as an excuse to send out 400 scholarship offers into Texas.
