The SEC has put three teams in the preseason basketball Coaches' Poll. Here is the top 10:
- Indiana (21)
- Louisville (5)
- Kentucky (5)
- Ohio State
- Michigan
- North Carolina State
- Kansas
- Duke
- Syracuse
- Florida
Defending champ Kentucky, of course, is the top vote getter with five first place votes to boot. They fell short of in-state rival Louisville by just 20 points out of over 700 for the top teams. Florida, coming off of back-to-back Elite Eight appearances, also made it into the top ten. The Gators made it above No. 11 Arizona by just 10 points. The third and final conference team is Missouri, which clocks in at No. 17. The Tigers are playing their first year of SEC ball this season, which is a way to remind you that last year's loss to a 15-seed in the tournament definitely happened to a Big 12 and not an SEC team.
The top three of Indiana, Louisville, and Kentucky are well out in front of the field when you look at the voting points. Spots 4-9 make up roughly another tier, with Florida being the top of the third tier that stretches from approximately No. 10 to No. 14 Michigan State.
Tennessee was tied for seventh in the also receiving votes category with 10 points. Georgia was 18th there, picking up two points.
