Alabama Vs. Florida Preview: A Look Ahead to the SEC Title Game (Again)?

Alabama Crimson Tide vs. Florida Gators, 8 p.m. ET, CBS

It's quite the SEC doubleheader on CBS today. It's kicked off with South Carolina and Auburn clashing in a rematch of the 2010 SEC Championship Game. It's wrapping up with what could very well be a preview of this year's edition of the conference's marquee event. Not that these two teams have ever played for the trophy before.

That might be getting a little bit ahead of the story, at least on Alabama's side. LSU might be the favorite now. But Florida has begun to wrest the favorite role in the SEC East from South Carolina, and the Gamecocks' developing implosion against Auburn is only going to add to that narrative.

To that extent, Florida might have a little bit more on the proverbial line going into this game than Alabama. If the Tide loses, then the narrative will remain a resurgent Florida. But if the Gators lose, then we're going to be back to making fun of the SEC East for the next several months and wondering who will emerge from the muck.

Florida, with something to lose, in the Swamp at night? That's a tempting upset pick if ever there were one. Instead, we'll go with a very, very close game that the Tide wins -- one that continues to muddy up both SEC divisional races.

Even so, you've got to like Florida's chances at getting a little revenge.
