Sprints Thinks 'The Big Picture' Should Include Grades // 05.04.10

And by 'the big picture,' he means the part that has nothing to do with 'learning'
Kentucky head coach and noted humanitarian John Calipari comments on the revelation that his players performed worse in the classroom than any Kentucky basketball team since 2002. This is one of those "terms where they don't do well." Or historically bad. Whatever.

"There was a lot thrown at these young men, especially that first term. I wish they did a little better that first term academically. But let me say this: I am so proud of how they handled the big picture of this."

The big picture being winning basketball games. Duh. Why else are they in college?

T-Bob suspended for failure to exit parking lot in an orderly fashion
And for the whole, you know, ALLEGED drunk driving thing.

"He understands the magnitude of this charge," Miles said. "He made a mistake. Now he's going to have to suffer the consequences and do those things that ensure that this type of incident doesn't happen again."

The most important "thing" being not getting behind the wheel of a car after drinking. This isn't rocket science here.

Another Stephen Garcia in the making?
Darren Myles will face discipline for his disorderly conduct. But making him "miss playing time" is so overrated. Certainly, just sitting the young man down for a talking-to will take care of the situation. It's like Fulmer is back in Knoxville.

How long before Gene Chizik says, "It's all part of the plan"
It's good for Auburn that the Tiger Prowl is now against NCAA rules. Really. I know because Track Em Tigers says so.

Well, their defense would fit right in
Of the many insane things Arkansas has done regarding its athletics department, this would be No. 1.

If the Big 12 were to lose only Missouri, I'm hearing the Big 12 would go hard after the SEC's Arkansas, which might be willing to listen.

Because Arkansas hates money? (HT: Roll Bama Roll) Dr. Saturday spends more time dispensing with this here.

Since when does FSU have to worry about the ACC Championship Game?
Seems like the Seminoles might now be interested in moving the Florida State-Florida game to the first game of the season.

"Now that you have conference championship games at the end of the season, you don’t want to play your big state rival and then have to turn around and play a conference championship game the very next week. Plus, if Florida State and Florida play at the beginning of the season, the winner kicks of the season in a big way and the loser still has time to overcome the loss in the BCS rankings."

Cue the Mayor comparing this to Georgia Tech-Georgia in 3 ... 2 ... 1 ...
