OVERVIEW
Kentucky is a difficult team to figure out, at least in part because of the streaks against Tennessee and South Carolina. The Wildcats are probably good enough to defeat one or the other -- but the Vols and the Gamecocks have something going for them if they haven't lost in almost 26 and 11 years, respectively. If you count a win against Ole Miss -- which like Kentucky is a bit of a wild card this year -- that gets the Wildcats to six wins and virtually assures them a bowl berth.
But that might not be how it plays out for Kentucky. They could conceivably lose to Ole Miss and win another SEC game somwhere along the way; the only sure league games that I see on the schedule are Vanderbilt and Florida. The Mississippi State game is another intriguing one; there are plenty of reasons to think that the Western Division Bulldogs will be better this year than last -- but better than Kentucky?
Whether Kentucky goes to the postseason, though, might ultimately depend on how well the marquee teams in the conferences do. If two head to the BCS, then the Wildcats are in with six wins; if not, then there might be a fight at the end of the year. Could Kentucky's bowl streak be lost by another team?
