More Tragedy: Ole Miss Player Bennie Abram Dies After Training Collapse

We've already had too much tragedy in this conference for one week, but for some reason we're getting some more: Ole Miss player Bennie Abram collapsed during training and died Friday.

According to the university, trainers noticed that Abram was experiencing difficulty early Friday shortly after the workout started. Officials say the trainers began administering aid and called 911.

Abram died at 12:11 p.m., several hours later. Lafayette County Coroner Rocky Kennedy says an autopsy will be performed Saturday. He says there's no foul play involved.

 School statements:

"We are deeply saddened over the loss of this young man. Our hearts go out to his parents and the entire Abrams family, and we will keep them in our thoughts and prayers throughout the days ahead." --Ole Miss Chancellor Dan Jones

"This is a tragic loss for the Abram family and the Ole Miss family. Our thoughts and prayers are with them. I am thankful to our athletics training staff and the hospital staff for their professional response." --Ole Miss Athletics Director Pete Boone

"Bennie was a fine young man and a hard worker. He was a great person to be around and a well-mannered young man.  His loss is so tragic. Our hearts and prayers go out to the family and all who knew Bennie." --Ole Miss Head Football Coach Houston Nutt

Of course, we'll have more on this as it develops over the next few days.
