Les Miles confirmed to the media today the main content of yesterday's rumor is true: Stevan Ridley's status for the Cotton Bowl is up in the air.
Ridley has become an academic casualty for the moment, a common thing to find out about ineligible players this time of year. Miles is appealing the ruling, though on what grounds I don't know. At the moment, I can't think of a case off hand where someone successfully appealed an academic eligibility ruling to get someone ready for a bowl game.
Obviously it's a big hit for LSU should the ruling stick. Ridley was the most reliable part of LSU's offense this year, and him missing the game would put even more pressure on the defense to slow down Texas A&M's potent offense.
