How could Alabama's first loss in more than a year and a half get worse?
Alabama receiver Julio Jones broke his hand against South Carolina and his status for the Crimson Tide's game Saturday against Mississippi is uncertain.
For a team that saw its vertical passing attack nearly shut down against South Carolina, and had trouble getting the ground game started because of it, losing the best wide receiver on the team is less than ideal. Jones was on pace for almost 900 receiving yards this season; he already had three touchdown receptions on the year.
Roll Bama Roll weighs in:
We do not have anyone who can legitimately replace Julio, and the overall depth of the wide receiver rotation is now in serious question. ... Making matters even worse, Julio is probably the best run blocker in the country at the wide receiver position, and that all goes away with this too.
Saban also ruled starting right tackle D.J. Fluker out of at least the Ole Miss game with a groin injury.
