SEC commish Mike Slive said SEC/ESPN press conference to announce SEC Network will be May 2 in Atlanta
I love my players. I appreciate their hard work and investment in our program. I feel a responsibility and loyalty to protect and stand up for them. Also, I feel it is important to educate them on all areas of life.
While my intentions were genuine, I feel it was unfortunate that things escalated to a confrontation. These actions were not representative of what this institution stands for. However, I will use it as a learning experience for myself as well as my players so that we all become better men.
"In other words, it’s more than just the question of over-signing or grayshirting," Slive said. "It’s a question of over-signing, grayshirting, early admissions, summer school admission. We’ve put together what we call a bit of a package to address these issues, that will give our people a chance to think about these issues in a more global fashion. So then it will be an important discussion item in Destin."
My source tells me we haven't been given a deadline yet, but we will make a decision by the end of next week. We can't have an official Board of Regents meeting without posting the meeting 72 hours ahead of time. The Board will have decided what they are going to decide by Tuesday, and it will be officially announced by Friday.
Latest in A&M's SEC/Pac-10 decision: SEC commissioner Mike Slive in College Station today...more to come
A high-placed SEC source told Sporting News on Thursday that the league will likely only expand with Texas and Texas A&M.
I wish [Lane Kiffin] well, I really do - as long as he's in California...
So we were very pleased to see Mike Hamilton make that appointment. I was very pleased with the positive reception that [Derek Dooley] received from Tennessee and the fans. And obviously, like any new coach he has his work cut out for him. I think his appointment is good for Tennessee and good for the SEC.
