It's a little late at this point for any fresh thoughts about Jim Tressel's heap of trouble, so go read where Matt Hinton made plain the case against him. Clay Travis went even further, calling for Tressel's head in a much longer indictment of the Buckeye coach.
I can't really argue much. As I said when writing about Bruce Pearl, if a coach isn't going to get fired for lying to the NCAA about his wrongdoings (and in Tressel's case, to his school too), then why even have an ethics code? Of course, Tressel is a good enough coach that someone will sit down with him, have a talk about ethics, say he's learned his lesson, and give him the keys to the football program. That's just the way things work, and in this case, Ohio State is likely going to be the one going through that process.
In any event, remember that the two week suspension and $250K fine are just Ohio State's penalties for him. The NCAA can expand things later.
