What was the funniest thing a college coach said to you? "This wasn’t meant to be as insulting as it sounds. When coach Gene Chizik was comparing Auburn and Alabama, he put up a slide that showed they had more wins, more this and that … then he started talking about Florida and how Will Muschamp follows in his shoes. I started busting out laughing. He said ‘When I was at Auburn the first time [as an assistant] and after I left, Muschamp came here. Then I was at Texas and after I left, Muschamp came there.’ He went on and on. He said ‘Muschamp just follows in my footsteps’ and it was hilarious the way he said it."
"Im not gonna' entertain somethin' that took place, not 3 months, no not 6 months, not even a year -- two years ago. Uhh, I'm not gonna sit up here and say anything about it, whether I did or did not do it. You know, because I think, you know -- I don't wanna' ... uhh ... beat a dead horse, talking about it, because it's not gonna' affect me no way, shape, form, or fashion.
You may have read where Auburn used stretch limos to parade recruits around the state of Alabama. The idea was that the limos would not only appeal to the kids but get Auburn plenty of attention because of the decals on the limos.
The real question here is whether other schools will follow suit or will the NCAA enact a new rule banning their use. We've seen the NCAA react to excessive meals and plane trips as well as text messaging. Can this be far behind?
"I think it should," Urban Meyer told Dooley Noted when asked if the NCAA will get involved. "We're trying to sell graduation rates and academics and [they're] trying the sing and dance routine.
"The Florida coaching staff will not be riding around in limos or ripping off our shirts."
Marcus Lattimore (Duncan, S.C./James F. Byrnes) confirmed that Auburn is his new leader after an unofficial visit to the school during the weekend, ESPN's JC Shurburtt reports.
He spoke with ESPN affiliate Web site AuburnUndercover.com about the visit, "This whole experience, I just felt it. You can't really explain it. My mom loves it, my stepdad loves it. You really just can't explain the feeling. I really didn't expect this much. I was just coming in to see the offense. They showed me that, and I met all these great people."
But just understand this: Auburn is not your school. It's not mine. We love it and we care deeply about it, but right now it belongs to someone else.
It belongs to a handful of people who don't care what you think or how you feel. ... This is not the Auburn we grew up loving.
[A]lthough Gene Chizik did wonders with the Cyclones in his first year and almost knocked off the Sooners and Tigers.
