SEC, DirecTV Reach Agreement; Provider Will Have Network on Launch Date

1

So there you have it. Every major provider will have the SEC Network when it launches this month. That's something that both the Big Ten Network and Pac-12 Networks failed to do when they got off the ground. Despite those who thought it wouldn't go well, Mike Slive and Co. have shown once again that at least when it comes to business acumen, the SEC is still the tops in the country. More to come very shortly.

A Site That Covers One of Your Team's Opponents

+

Underdog Dynasty is the new SB Nation blog for all things mid-major football, basically, meaning that there's likely be some coverage of your team's more ... low-profile ... opponents. One of their first pieces is really a public service: It outlines who exactly is in Conference USA right now.

DirecTV and SEC Very Very Very Close to a Deal

2

Obviously, nothing is done until the contract is signed and the two sides have nailed down all the details. But the rates were always going to be the biggest part of the battle, and if those are done, then the likeliest outcome is that DirecTV will carry the SEC Network starting Aug. 14. From the looks of things, even the biggest providers will bring the network to more than 80 million consumers, which is a great number for a launch. We'll probably get a fuller picture, with the smaller regional providers thrown in, when the SEC and DirecTV announce a final deal.
