As we enter the fourth week of the college football season, the Alabama Crimson Tide still reign supreme in the USA TODAY Coaches Poll. The poll, which was revealed on Sunday afternoon has the Tide at the top with 59 first-place votes out of a possible 63, with the other four being dispersed out to the Ohio State Buckeyes and Clemson Tigers, who got three and one first-place vote respectively.
While no other teams from the SEC made the Top 10, the 11-20 rankings are littered with them. In total, six teams from the conference are featured in these spots, taking up 11-13 and 16-18. The Georgia Bulldogs, Tennessee Volunteers and Texas A&M Aggies comprise the former as each team scored victories to remain unbeaten this weekend. Meanwhile, Florida, LSU and Arkansas take up the 16-18 spots as they each tallied victories as well.
Ole Miss gives the SEC eight teams in the Coaches Poll yet again despite the fact that they lost to Alabama and, also, have two losses on the season. It’s hard to be too down on the Rebels after losing to the top-ranked Crimson Tide and Florida State earlier in the year as well but they will certainly be a team to watch going forward as one could expect them to slip out of the polls if unbeaten or one-loss teams continue to impress.
Based off the USA TODAY poll, this week will feature several games with ranked teams meeting. They include:
No. 11 Georgia vs. No. 21 Ole Miss
No. 12 Tennessee vs. No. 16 Florida
No. 13 Texas A&M vs. No. 18 Arkansas
The AP poll will be revealed later today, so stay tuned.
