Ole Miss played its first College World Series game in 42 years on Sunday. It will have to wait at least a couple more days for its first CWS win in 45 years.
The Rebels managed just one hit against Nathan Kirby, Virginia's starter, and scored one run in the first round loss to the Cavaliers. It was only the second time since May 10 that Ole Miss was held to fewer than two runs in a game, and the walk-off win for UVA marked a tough loss for the Rebels after they tied the game at 1-1 in the top of the eighth.
But it's a double-elimination tournament, so Ole Miss gets a chance to keep itself a live beginning with a 3 p.m. ET game on Tuesday against Texas Tech. It took the Rebels more than four decades to get back to Omaha -- but they have to hit the ball better if they're going to stay past the College World Series' fourth day.
