BCS Standings, Week 14: Alabama, Florida State, Ohio State and Everyone Else

Marc Lebryk-USA TODAY Sports

The Buckeyes have moved themselves into the prime position if one of the undefeated teams fall. And the SEC is dominating the Top 10, as usual

There's not a bunch of drama in the Top 10 of the BCS, though one thing is now clear: If Alabama or Florida State lose, Ohio State's got a clear shot at the title game. (You can argue that they don't deserve it, but I don't see the coaches and the Harris voters skipping an undefeated AQ team for an one-loss AQ team.) If more than one of the undefeated teams loses, then we're going to be in Chaosville.

1 Alabama
2 Florida State
3 Ohio State
4 Auburn
5 Missouri
6 Clemson
7 Oklahoma State
8 Stanford
9 Baylor
10 South Carolina

If either Auburn or Missouri can't beat Alabama, they might be losing their best chance to remove all doubt from the great Sugar Bowl debate. As it stands now, Auburn would be in line for an automatic berth in the BCS under the 3-4 rule. However, they still have to play Alabama, and losing that game, even narrowly, would probably knock them out of the No. 4 spot. At which point it might go to Mizzou, which of course, would have to play Alabama if they win next weekend.

It is worth noting that there are four SEC teams in the Top 10, and if South Carolina can beat Clemson and Missouri beats Texas A&M, it's quite possible there could still be four SEC teams in the Top 10 at the end of the season, depending on how bad the losses are for the loser of the Iron Bowl and the SEC Championship Game. Not that it makes any difference in the BCS, but it's a bragging point.

LSU and Texas A&M are probably out of the at-large discussion for good. While they both have at least an outside chance at getting back into the Top 14 (a very, very outside chance in the case of the Aggies), they're going to end up behind several other SEC teams and seeming a bit disappointing in the eyes of bowl committees, I would think.

For now, here's the full standings broken down by component. We'll have a lot more shortly.
