Estimated Probability of Competing in Athletics Beyond the High School Interscholastic Level

+

Gotta love the NCAA for coming up with the longest, most boring title for this report possible. Anyway, the NCAA has calculated the chances of high school athletes making the college ranks and then making the professional ranks. The sports looked at are men's and women's basketball, football, baseball, men's hockey, and men's soccer. If you want to play in college, your best bet is the hockey, actually. If you want to play professionally, baseball is where its at. Both of those statements assume you can make a high school team, and even then, the odds aren't great. I did not realize, though, that more than 10% of college baseball players play professionally, but that apparently includes the 600 or so levels of minor leagues out there.
