It's not surprising that it's come to this after a couple of underachieving years in Starkville, but Rick Stansbury is done at Mississippi State according to many reports. It's going to be called a retirement according to everyone who has heard something about it. I have to guess that has something to do with state pensions as he's been there as an assistant or head coach since 1990.
At age 52, Stansbury is a bit young for a head coach to retire for good, but maybe he doesn't want the stress anymore. In any event, a press conference is scheduled for this afternoon.
