This evening, Steve Jobs announced his resignation from Apple Inc., the second largest company in America by market capitalization. He has been succeeded in the CEO role by Apple COO Tim Cook, who graduated from Auburn in 1982 with a degree in industrial engineering. This is not a cue to start PC/Mac or even iPhone/Android flame wars. This is merely a note to point out that the company that, this year or next, will pass Exxon Mobil for the largest in the country (and depending on PetroChina's performance, the entire world), is now being run by one of our own.
