Since there has been lots of talks about how the scheduling would be affected if the SEC went to 14 teams, I decided to give my attempt at it. I assumed the schedule would stay at 8 conference games with one permanent cross divisional rival. Here's what I came up with. I believe most of the major rivalries stay on a yearly basis, and the divisions are distributed pretty evenly.
First I changed the divisions, but instead of trying to keep them east/west, I decided a more northish/southish route was better. I then made three scenarios depending on who the 14th team would be. First I did it assuming we would get another big12 team (OU, Mizzou, etc.) One of them would go in the south the other in the north, and they would become rivals.
North Division in bold, South Division in Italics
Alabama, Auburn
Arkansas, LSU
South Carolina, Georgia
Kentucky, Miss State
Tennessee, Florida
Vanderbilt, Ole Miss
Big 12, Texas A&M
Then I made one assuming another team would join in the north (VT, or such). Being a razorback fan, I changed the rivalries a little, considering how there's tradition between Arkansas and A&M it made it a more natural choice.
Alabama, Auburn
Arkansas, Texas A&M
South Carolina, Georgia
Kentucky, Miss State
Tennessee, Florida
Vanderbilt, Ole Miss
*North, LSU
And lastly I made one for adding a new team in the south division (FSU), where I made Auburn part of the north. I think that makes it the most fair and less conficting of any other choice, even if they're not really northern...
Alabama, Miss St
Arkansas, Texas A&M
South Carolina, South*
Kentucky, LSU
Tennessee, Florida
Vanderbilt, Ole Miss
Auburn, Georgia
