Virginia Tech has been near the top of everyone's lists as a possible SEC expansion target in the east, but athletics director Jim Weaver thinks the school would "politely decline" an offer from the SEC. The reasons? Because nearly every ACC school is a bus trip away and it's the conference the school has always wanted to be in. He also says that no one from the SEC has contacted the school yet.
Weaver admits that he hasn't talked to anyone else and is just giving his opinion, but this is still one leader in the VT athletics department who doesn't think the Hokies will switch conferences again.
If we can take Weaver at his word that no one from the SEC has contacted his school yet, and if earlier reports are true, then FSU is your current leader for SEC school No. 14.
The president of FSU says he's not had any talks about moving his school to the SEC. He pretty much refused to say anything else. Two things:
1. That doesn't rule out a move in the future, and
2. It doesn't rule out someone other than him having talks about moving to the SEC.
