According to an unnamed NFL GM, Ryan Mallett admitted using drugs in his pre-draft interviews with teams. While that makes him remarkably forthcoming, as the GM has never seen another quarterback make such an admission, it also confirms the rumors that led him to fall from a first round to second round draft grade.

Hopefully the admission is a sign he's come clean and is putting it behind him. I would hate to hear years from now that Mallett was another Erik Ainge, not that we have any reason to believe Mallett's use was anywhere near as bad as Ainge's was.

Wow

another unnamed source confirms. How is one unnamed source more credible than any other?

Because this is from a reporter who talked to a GM who conducted an interview with Mallett. That’s about as solid as a source gets.

Granted, GMs have been known to lie to the press this time of year to throw other teams off. Even so, you’d figure Mallett would have told every team the same thing, which then destroys the value of lying for this GM.

Personally

Unnamed means nobody. It’s still just the same rumor-mongering that it has been from the start. Nothing has changed.
