Half the BlogPoll Ballot, Week 9
The general schedule had better be backloaded this year for everyone, because a lot of teams are missing even a second good win after their best one. I found this week's voting to be particularly tedious for that reason. As always for me, numbers indicate AP Poll ranks for reference, but that poll holds no other sway over my voting.
| Rank | Team | Record |
| 1 | Alabama | 8-0 |
| 2 | LSU | 8-0 |
| 3 | Clemson | 8-0 |
| 4 | Oklahoma State | 7-0 |
| 5 | Boise State | 7-0 |
| 6 | Stanford | 7-0 |
| 7 | Arkansas | 6-1 |
| 8 | Oregon | 6-1 |
| 9 | Michigan State | 6-1 |
| 10 | Kansas State | 7-0 |
| 11 | Wisconsin | 6-1 |
| 12 | Oklahoma | 6-1 |
| 13 | Nebraska | 6-1 |
| 14 | South Carolina | 6-1 |
| 15 | Texas A&M | 5-2 |
| 16 | Texas Tech | 5-2 |
| 17 | Michigan | 6-1 |
| 18 | Virginia Tech | 7-1 |
| 19 | USC | 6-1 |
| 20 | Penn State | 7-1 |
| 21 | Houston | 7-0 |
| 22 | Arizona State | 5-2 |
| 23 | Georgia | 5-2 |
| 24 | West Virginia | 5-2 |
| 25 | Washington | 5-2 |
Note: I've changed the table but not updated the image, so that's why they don't match.

True
Not sure how I missed that, but it wouldn’t change my order of the top two.

On your pure resume method,
I would rate South Carolina above Nebraska and Wisconsin. Our wins are much better than either, and I don’t think you should let a loss to a higher rated team make the difference, especially when it was a curbstomping like Nebraska received from Wisconsin.
On a non-resume ballot, I wouldn’t put South Carolina as high as 14 right now.

South Carolina hasn’t had a dominant streak like Wisconsin has, so that’s why I’ve got them behind the Badgers. I could be perfectly fine with them above Nebraska, but I think the loss to Auburn (who I don’t think is good at all) holds them back even given the large margin by which NU lost to Wisconsin. SC has the better best win, NU has the better second-best win, and it’s non-notable dreck from there. The loss is the tiebreaker in the Huskers’ favor.
But like I said, I wouldn’t be offended or anything with the Gamecocks being higher.

Just curious,
but do you think Ohio State would win at Mississippi State? I think winning at Mississippi State is more difficult than beating Ohio State at home. I’m not offended either, regardless of your answer.

This year, Ohio State’s defense is by far the best individual unit among the two teams. I think that would carry the day for the Buckeyes largely regardless of where the game is played. Of course if the OSU QBs are having a bad day, anything could happen.

This whole thing looks like a mess this season, even moreso than normal
And thank you for dropping Oklahoma out of the top 10 entirely. Almost all of their wins have looked much better when they happened than they do now.
Down closer to the bottom, other than being an SEC team, what has Georgia done to put them over Arizona St. given Arizona St.’s better collection of wins. Do better losses outweigh better wins?
Good point
I don’t know what, if anything, I was thinking with that one.
