Bobby Johnson Has Resigned [UPDATED]
There are reports, but (importantly) no confirmation that Bobby Johnson has resigned as head football coach at Vanderbilt. We'll be watching this closely, but again, there's no official word on it.
If you ask me, this feels more like someone's off season prank, spreading word that some smaller school's coach has resigned. It's more likely to run for a while since there are fewer close watchers of the program. Anyway, stay tuned.
UPDATE
Tony Barnhart thinks this is true.
UPDATE 2
Vandy has scheduled a press conference for 1 PM Central. That's enough to change the headline.

Yeah. There's no professional media following Vanderbilt.
Are you serious?
Tony Barnhart is reporting it now. Then again, he may be confusing us with fellow Division 3 members Carnegie Mellon or Case Western. Sheesh.
I’m not saying that there’s no big media following Vandy. I’m saying there are fewer people following it than the headlining schools.

Question of degree
Yes, obviously I agree that we’re more under the radar than Florida and Bama, or for that matter Miss State. I think I disagree with you about how easily someone could plant a rumor, but then again the media gets it wrong and Plaster’s less competent than most.
So I probably overreacted.
It's okay
It’s a stressful time. I can remember the day Spurrier resigned from Florida clear as day.

Don't sully the Academic Bowl's participants like that.
The UAA takes your comments VERY seriously.

Don't get me wrong, Plaster's an idiot
I wouldn’t put it past him to misterpret three sources or something. You didn’t know Barnhart had confirmed it when you posted it.
But even for Plaster this would be quite a stunt. Even the most pathetic, underfollowed team in the SEC might get as much media attention as 2/3 the Big East or 1/3 the Pac-10.
Which would make it a pretty dumb prank (if it was one, which it’s clearly not). I’m not familiar with Plaster, have no idea who his source is, and generally have a skeptical view of any news broken by radio and TV stations. That was a good thing during conference expansion as every bit of “news” broken by TV or radio turned out to be false. Didn’t work this time, but it’s a good stance more often than not.
