Mississippi State Offered to Help Alabama for a Price
Apparently Mississippi State offered to help out Alabama with its scheduling conundrum in exchange for some kind of future favors from the SEC. Dan Mullen confirmed this, but he said outgoing MSU AD Greg Byrne didn't give him all the details.
We're only left to wonder what kind of scheduling favors the SEC could offer to a school.

As far as Auburn is concerned...
It is tradition for us to play our 2 biggest rivals — UGA and alabama — as our last 2 regular-season games. That is the reason for the bye before the Iron Bowl. We are not willing to play a non-conference game between those 2 games. Nothing wrong with that. Also, I don’t feel sorry for alabama with all their opponents’ bye weeks. For years AU finished the season with Florida, UGA and alabama — while alabama finished with Kentucky and Ole Miss and Vandy before the Iron Bowl. So cry me a river. If you’re as good as you claim to be, you will still blow right through everyone, right? ………
