Friday Tournament Open Thread

Let's see if today can beat yesterday for drama. It's got a long, uphill climb to get there.

SCHEDULE

None! All four SEC entrants played yesterday, so there's none playing today. Well, except for Ole Miss who's playing Memphis in the second round of the NIT today.

Former Kentucky head coach Tubby Smith (who Dennis Dodd says is going to Auburn) and Minnesota go against Xavier at 12:25 ET, so there's that. You can also root against some SEC teams' arch rivals as Clemson (2:35), Florida State (7:10), Georgia Tech (7:15), and Louisville (9:45) all play today.

West Virginia takes first lead at 5:21… ouch.

Hrmph – West Virginia is taking control there. But we’ll always have Cornell… (at least until Temple gets its act together.)

The nerds are certainly sticking it to the birds so far. Though after all we’ve seen so far, a mere 12-5 upset almost seems mundane.

I think we can add the A-10 to the list of conferences that wish they could hit the reset button.

Yeah, but Xavier pulled out the win. Plus, Cornell over Temple is that shocking since Cornell was underseeded and it’s a 5/12.

One modest win from a 5+6+7 isn’t so inspiring. And Temple got thumped – even if Cornell should have been an 11 or 10, it’s pretty bad for a ranked team to lose by that kind of margin in the first round.

Cornell should have been even higher than 11 or 10.

They were ranked at one point in the year, but the voters and selection committee never forgave them for a throw away game against Penn.

Now let’s get behind Wofford.
