The Birmingham News rreports that Cam Newton will play against Georgia, and he's been announced as starter at the stadium. Auburn apparently made that decision today after talking with the NCAA, which would explain yesterday's round of "no comment" responses to inquiries about his eligibility.
Supposedly it all hinges on the claim that neither Cam nor Auburn knew that Cecil Newton tried to shake down Mississippi State for money. I don't get how that keeps Auburn in the clear, given what the NCAA has said about how family members asking for money still counts as a violation, but here we are.
