Tebow Haters...
Hate- to dislike intensely or passionately; feel extreme aversion for or extreme hostility toward; detest: to hate the enemy; to hate bigotry.
"Both rational and irrational hate mask personal insecurities. Everyone experiences personal insecurities in varying degrees throughout their lives. The more insecure a person feels, the larger the hate mask."
"With respect to rational hate, haters do not focus as much on the wrong done to them or others, but, rather, on their own helplessness, guilt, or inability to effect change. The object of rational hate often is despised or pitied. In the same way, irrational hate elevates the hater above the hated. Many insecure people feel a sense of self-worth by relegating a person or group of people to a lower status." By JOHN R. SCHAFER, M.A., and JOE NAVARRO, M.A.
I understand the media has made Tim Tebow a huge super star and some people are tired of hearing about him.
What I don’t understand is why people love to hate other human beings when they haven’t done any wrong to them. Then I came across a article written by the FBI on hate groups, paragraphs shown above. I guess it is true when people hate someone, it simply comes down to insecurities.
I am just sick of listening to all the haters comments out there. So to all the Tim Tebow haters…what other reason is there besides insecurities?
If anyone feels the need to comment with immature insults with no real criticism, you must realize you are simply one of the insecure people I am referring to.
A FanPost gives the opinion of the fan who writes it and that fan only. That doesn't give the opinion more or less weight than any other opinion on this blog, but the post does not necessarily reflect the view of TSK's writers.

People
will always hate beautiful/handsome, talented, graceful, and successful people. Envy is a bitch. Because of this, successful people are sometimes the loneliest, most depressed people around. A lot of people assume the hated person is happy because he or she is handsome and successful. They assume that the Tim Tebow types never have a bad day, so they don’t offer any support, and they ignore his or her feelings.
This alienation can cause a successful person to really notice what the haters say or write. I think someone like Tebow receives a lot of hate because he doesn’t ever seem to fail and he receives and ungodly amount of praise. Everything always seems to go his way, so people who are struggling—and not as popular, attractive, or athletic—develop a grudge. Normal people are criticized. They’re demoted, yelled at, dumped, divorced, fired, and pushed around at some point. They see Tebow dominating football (and beating their team…this has a lot to do with it) and they can’t control their bitterness.
MATRIX: Bennett, I thought you were--
BENNETT: Dead? You thought wrong. Ever since you had me thrown out of the unit, I've been waiting to pay you back. Do you know what today is, Matrix? Payday.
His prancing around contributes to it.
I think some of it definitely comes from his celebrating on the field. The way he’ll jump around and wave his arms up and down so many times. Sometimes after a play that isn’t really that big. Yeah a lot of people do that same motion but not nearly as much as he does. You don’t have to be insecure to be annoyed by watching that after hearing about what a humble guy he is non-stop. I know this doesn’t explain nearly all of the “hate” for Tebow. Still, it’d be stupid to act like we don’t see him prancing around after a 7 yard gain or whatever it was.
On another note, it is beyond me how he is not given more unsportsmanlike conduct penalties when you consider the ones that were dished out in last week’s UGA-LSU game.
Every player does it
I hardly call it prancing. When Tiger Woods does his fist pump after a great putt, is that prancing? or EVEN better …I guess you dont enjoy watching NFL at all then, becuase if you think what Tebow is doing is prancing then I guess the NFL players are ballerinas.
I can understand being annoyed for a players dancing on the field, but I have watched every Tebow game, and the only “prancing” I have noticed is when they score or he runs somebody over. Also the reason he doesn’t get flagged is because its ok to show excitement, thier not robots…it just seems like Tebow does it so much is becuase hes always making great plays and hes always in the spot light. Again not his fault.
Maybe prancing wasn’t the best word but it’s what came to mind at the time to describe what he often does…which is to pop up after one of his runs, dramatically run out into open space so everyone can seen him, and wave his arms wildly. Call it what you want, but it is a form of showboating.
I agree with you that players should be able to show excitement. I think the celebration penalties called in the UGA-LSU game last week were absurd. But what even makes less sense is that the penalties in that game were called and Tebow’s wild behavior is not.
I realize Tebow is a great player who is in the spotlight. But do all the other people in the spotlight act like him? No. And the people who watch Tebow are also not robots. I think that’s why some of them get annoyed by him. And yes NFL players look ridiculous and stupid with their rehearsed dances. But that has little to do with college football. Besides, at least they don’t do it that often or after a relatively short gain. And the Tiger example is a bad one too. If it were Tebow he’d probably do it after making putt on the first hole or after fixing a divot.
Haha
after fixing a divot. Aparently one of us is being a little bias.
SHOWBOATING -to perform or behave in an outrageous or spectacular manner…you really can’t call what he does any of the sort.
If his opponents dont feel disrespected by his excitement, he must not be crossing any lines, or going over the top with it. He doesnt do it to get attention, unlike most players, it is just extreme emotions of trying to pump himself up and his teamates. Its just you who thinks he does it for attention.
All this boils down to is what I said above, you are finding reasons to nit pick him. You continue to belittle him as if he really does showboat over meaning less plays…wich would be annoying but its cleary not true. And you are stretching it to make him sound bad.
Find me a clip or link of Tebow jumping up and down when it was not a GREAT PLAY or a critical moment in the game.
I gurantee you will not find him jumping in excitement over a play that didnt call for it.
While you are referring to the dictionary, I’ll mention that I think you should look up the word “bias”, and see that you probably meant to say “biased”. But anyways…
Actually I can call what he does a form of showboating. It’s certainly not the worst but I would say that he sometimes waves his arms in a “spectacular manner”.
Who says his opponents don’t feel disrespected by his excitement? Have you talked to the players that Florida has faced? I think they’d rather not have a Gator fan speak for them. And you also have no way of knowing what his motives are either. You act like you are a reliable source of knowledge on all these people’s feelings. I also really doubt that I am the only one that thinks this way about Tebow.
This does not boil down do me finding ways to nit pick him. I was answering your question about reasons people don’t like Tebow besides “insecurities”. You did want people do respond to the question when you posted it didn’t you? Or maybe you just wanted people to respond only if they kiss Tebow’s rear end. Your saying that people don’t like Tebow because of insecurities is absurd.
Oh and I found a clip you might be interested in. He’s not exactly jumping up and down but he’s doing his signature arm waving and a bunch of other crap. He fit in quite a bit for a four second clip. I’ve gotta go but if you respond I’ll read it tomorrow. The address to the clip is below. Later.

Try to find a quote
from any defender that Tebow has faced in 3+ years of collegiate football, that says he is a showboat. Hint: don’t spend too much time looking.
I think we can all agree that the “celebration” penalty has become ridiculous. If someone is seriously taunting or belittling the defender, fine, call it. But to throw a flag when a player is hugging his teammates?!!? (AJ Green)….dispicable.
When Tebow did the chomp toward the Oklahoma safety last year, it was called – and that was justified. If he was doing the chomp to his teammates or to his own fans, it should have been a no call.
Yes excuse me, Biased.
Honestly, saying Tebow is a showboater is just plain not logical! He is widely known as a class act. A showboater is not a class act.
I said real criticism. Not some lame excuse to not like someone. Maybe you do find his excitment annoying. Thats your opinion. But its like Jerry Seinfeld dumping a girl becuase he didnt like her toes. Your being irrational.
Also I said People who HATE him is from thier insecurities. Sure there is a lot of people who dont hate him as a person, and are just jelous becuase nobody likes a winner.
“Find me a clip or link of Tebow jumping up and down when it was not a GREAT PLAY or a critical moment in the game.”
Oh ya...
I almost forgot, no, the opponents of the Gators have never said to me they dont find Tebow disrespectfull. I spoke for them becuase NO ONE, not any professional has complained of Tebows “showboating”. If Tebow was as bad as you thought dont you think there would be some clips out there of other teams complaining?
IF THEY ARE NOT COMPLAINING, WHY ARE YOU? YOU DONT EVEN PLAY AGAINST HIM AND YOU ARE ANNOYED…!
So now I have to be a player to be annoyed? You couldn’t really have expected actual players to come on here and answer your question when you posted it.
I gave you an answer to your post. All you had before was another of the billion posts that kiss Tebow’s ass. I thought you might at least appreciate a new opinion but instead you just call me irrational because you disagree with me. And just because he’s “widely known as a class act”, that doesn’t make any differing view invalid or necessarily wrong. I don’t really think i gave you a “lame excuse”. I don’t know the man personally of course, but i stated my opinion based on what i’ve seen from him from a football fan’s viewpoint, just like you (i’m assuming). And just because i’ve said what i have, that doesn’t mean i think it wipes out all his good qualities. The guy obviously has incredible guts, strength, and skill. unfortunately we seem to have reached a point at which it is considered blasphemy to suggest Tebow is anything but PERFECT. and i thought the clip i got was pretty good. i know he’s not actually jumping around but he’s doing some of his crap. if ur not satisfied with it oh well.
skigator93: i don’t anticipate i’ll find a quote either but i also don’t think that really proves that some players aren’t bothered by him. i’m not saying guys like Geno Hayes and Ricky Jean-Francois should have said the kinds of things that they did before they faced Florida. but i also think there may be something about Tebow besides that fact that he is a great player that makes them say those things. And I too am all aboard with cutting out the ridiculous celebration penalties. i was at the UGA-LSU game last week. I was just noting that I don’t get why Tebow never gets called for them considering the ones that got called in that game.
Ok lets get this straight
Please read what I wrote. I understand some people may be tired of Tebow, I even understand that some people just clash with others. For some reason you are annoyed with how Tebow acts on the field. That is fine, I cant argue what someone else finds anoying.
I am just sick of listening to all the haters comments out there. So to all the Tim Tebow haters…what other reason is there besides insecurities?———————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————
Your comment does not justify why people hate Tim Tebow. If you think it does, then clearly that is irrational.
You dont have to be a player to be annoyed. But if you expect to justify the fact of why some people hate Tim Tebow with your reason, that just proves those people are insecure. If it doesnt bother the players, why does it bother you so much that you Hate him over it?
So if you are just saying you are tired of him and dont like him for that reasoning thats fine i respect that. But I didnt not say please inform me of what annoys you of Tim Tebow.
okay. i guess we are kind of having separate arguments here. When you used the words “hate” and “haters” in posing the question, i responded with the assumption that the words were being used in the way sports fans throw them around all the time. The definition you are using seems to be more specific, in a way that might be used to describe what a racist group or some other hate group does. If you know that people are HATING Tim Tebow with that much passion than I’d be interested to hear about it. But I also doubt that the people you are referring to actually hate him in the way you are insisting that the word be used. And I still do not know why what I talked about would necessarily mean anyone is insecure.
I understand
why you might of thought “hater” as in someone saying hes not that good, and not what i meant of actually HATING such as…“Tblow is a joke, and I hope he gets knocked out in the nfl”
but if you read my article closer you would of realized I was talking about people hating other human beings for no good reason.
Yes there is some comments below of people who Hate him, and I read and hear comments all the time about how much they hope Tebow would get hurt, or happy he did. It is clear they want everyone to know how they feel about Tebow. Again why would you feel the need for everyone to know how much you dont like Tebow?
Like and Hate are a big difference
“Your saying that people don’t like Tebow because of insecurities is absurd.”
I dont like a lot of things, I try not to hate anyone or anything unless they have caused me some sort of harm or misfortune.
I dont like the Yankees, But do I go out of my way to trash thier name? No, becuase where would that get me in life? I dont need to talk bad about somoene to make myself feel better.
I don’t know how you plan on measuring exactly who hates him by the strict definition of the word and I also I don’t know exactly what you are referring to when you say going out of their way to trash his name.
But even if you had said that you hate the Yankess, that wouldn’t be going out of your way to trash their name. When people express anything from a mild lack of affection for Tebow to actual “hate” for him, they are not going out of their way to trash his name. Perhaps they just feel a desire to express their opinion…something that we both apparently feel considering we are on this website. It’s not necessarily that people feel they have to talk bad about him to make themselves feel better. These same people are expressing their opinions about things other than Tebow as well (yes there are stories in sports that don’t involve him). Under your logic, a similar argument could be made against those who idolize Tebow. As in “why do these people feel the need to talk about this person non-stop to make themselves feel better?” Something I personally don’t understand is why so many people have to drool over him and his accomplishments as if no one else has already made the same points. That can’t possibly get them very far in life either.
I express my opinion on here
Because I get enjoyment talking about football, or sports in general. Also I like talking to other people.
I dont get enjoyment out of insulting players, I dont get enjoyment out of bashing any human beings. Anyone who gets enjoyment out of that, is trying to bring that person down to thier levelor below them. Wich is insecure to feel the need to bring somone else down, just so they can feel better or eaual to that person.
People continue to ride the Tebow gravy train
Becuase he is a good story… A good story as in(ratings).
Have you ever seen private parts?
in the movie they show a survey done of why people listen to Stern, they all wanted to hear what he said next whether they hated him or loved him.
LSU had a sold out crowd tonight…I wonder why. Tebows first game back from what has been on every newspaper/sports show the last two weeks. So yea A lot of people are complaining of Tebow fatigue, but do you really think ESPN would continue talking about him if it wasnt getting any interest?
Sold out crowds are nothing new in Baton Rouge. I think they like to watch their Tigers even when Tebow is not playing them. Contrary to popular belief, football was invented before Tebow was born.
Anyways, I understand your point about the media. What I don’t understand is why people are so fascinated by him. I mean I know he is the star of the number 1 team in the country. But the type of fascination coming from many members of the public is at a level that is ridiculous in my opinion.
Yes
I know, a few years ago I was sick of USC. I am still sick of the Yankees.
But people who are jack asses are for a reason, they are not born that way.
If I praising how great someone is, I am proud of that person, I want other to be proud of them. thats not being insecure at all.
If I am talking bad about somone, I have a problem with them, I want others to have a problem with them. thats insecure.
Yes some people, just say things to get attention, and the only way they can get it is saying somthing dumb(trolling), still cleary those people have issues with attention, insecure.
im not saying that even people who practically worship the guy are insecure. I just think its hasty to conclude that the people who were saying those bad things were saying them because they were insecure rather than because they were being idiots.
maybe
Some were just idiots, and if you personally asked them they would say they dont hate Tebow and they regret saying those things. maybe…
I would be willing to bet, that there is many MANY people who would defend thier comments and that is thier real feelings. Those 4 comments are just a tip of the ice berg. Every week I have to read such things. At work I have to listen to people who have actually said they hate Tebow and hope he gets hurt, and laughed when he did.
If you think its crazy that people might actually hate Tebow for real, then is there a reason why people hate any human beings?
it wasnt just a sold out crowd, it was a record crowd.
Maybe I am wrong. maybe it had nothing to do with Tebow. But I think it is a reasonable arguement to say some fans who normally dont go, went becuase they knew seeing Tebow come back could be a big part of college football history. Not saying it was, but there was a lot of speculation with the whole is it safe, will he be great, will he fail badly becuase of the injury?
LSU sell out
Good point, but not properly stated. LSU sells out every home game (I assume), however Saturday night’s game was the largest crowd in LSU history.
Geno Hayes and Ricky Jean-Francois are great examples of the type of player who hates Tebow. They are a little short on talent, so they have to make a lot of noise with their mouth instead of with their talen on the field like Eric Berry or Rolando McLain.
I think both you guys are on the same page – being tired of hearing about Tebow is certainly reasonable at this point and it doesn’t sound like you hate the guy, just tired of hearing reporters and such fawn over him.
Oops
Didn’t scroll down far enough to see that Hook already clarified himself on the record crowd.
Also, there were allegedly tens of thousands who just went to tailgate and watch outside the stadium without tickets.
These are some comments from Yahoo, from when Tebow got hurt, and from tonights game back.

F***..Tebow…you make him out to be the second coming of christ
It is clear these people are trashing him. It is clear they hate Tebow. Many insecure people feel a sense of self-worth by relegating a person or group of people to a lower status." I didnt make that up. That is a quote from two FBI phsycoligists. So if you disagree with that then, maybe you should do your own study and spend your entire career studying hate groups and I will listen.
So yes, if you say you dont think Tim Tebow is a good quarterback, or he is over rated. That is trying to have a actual debate. Or even saying somthing like, man I hate Tebow, might just be someone who has a lack of better words to describe thier feelings . But going out of your way to force your hate of him onto someone else is just insecure.
The comments above are what I am talking about. Why else would you say somthing like that? So unless you want to find me a reason of why people Hate Tebow like that, then cleary you didnt understand my article.
I know we’ll both agree that the people who wrote those things are jackasses. Having said this, i think the fact that they made those comments is more due to the fact that they are jackasses rather than some deep hatred and a desire to gain “a sense of self-worth by relegating a person or group of people to a lower status.” i think that is reading way too deep into the matter. instead, i think when they made those comments they were probably just looking for a way to be bold and act like their jackass selves while expressing clearly that they don’t like Tebow. (But i agree those comments are very bad). as to your question farther above, i don’t know the exact answer to why people feel the need for everyone to know how much they don’t like Tebow. It’s probably hard for them to contain it when Tebow is praised on everywhere for anything (not saying that justifies those kinds of comments). But one could also ask why so many feel the need to lavish praise on him continuously. People just naturally want to be heard. Unfortunately some (like the people that made those comments) can’t seem to do it without being total idiots.
This isnt showboating at all
When i was in highschool i played basketball and i was a bencwarmer but being the really competitive person i am would always yell and pump up the crowd just like Tim does. One game we were playing the number 1 team in new york Avon and our rivals at home, so that day i got a towel and wrote 14-0 on it, that wouldve been their record if they beat us, and when my name was called for introductions i went over to our student section jumped in the stands and ripped the towel to peices. The ppl went nuts and we almost beat the number 1 team in the state without our top scorer. What Tim does is the same thing he is getting everyone pumped up by doing what he does he is a leader and a very very fierce competitor thats all. Everyone get off Tim’s wood.
