Todd ties the Auburn record for touchdown passes in a season and Alabama is in serious trouble.

Auburn off to a great start!

I wouldn’t mind seeing #2 Bama get beat :)

Congrats to South Carolina, by the way – fantastic way to close the regular season. (And it’s heartening to not see the OBC fall behind 0-2 to a guy named after a Ferengi game of chance.)

by MexiHog on Nov 28, 2009 3:56 PM EST reply actions

by peachy rex on Nov 28, 2009 3:58 PM EST up reply actions

So… Okie St to the Fiesta is looking improbable right now. Cui bono?

by peachy rex on Nov 28, 2009 4:03 PM EST reply actions

It’s not a great crop of big conference teams this year in the at-large pool – an undefeated Boise is a pretty reasonable proposition. So long as they don’t get matched against TCU (which could probably only happen in the Fiesta.)

by peachy rex on Nov 28, 2009 4:10 PM EST up reply actions

Fox and the BCS have a little-known contract provision that allows them to shuffle the matchups

They can only do it after the teams have been selected, though. So you could see the Fiesta take TCU and Boise only to see them split up for ratings’ sake.

Hey, a big play in the running game. Whoulda thunk.

by peachy rex on Nov 28, 2009 4:11 PM EST reply actions

Wow.

Thompson just pulled on the CB’s jersey so hard the shoulder pad popped out…..right in front of the ref. No call, as usual.

by allhailcale on Nov 28, 2009 4:14 PM EST reply actions

Once the SEC stopped fining coaches, it took some of the fun out of that joke. Too bad… I was going to ride that one all season.

by peachy rex on Nov 28, 2009 4:17 PM EST up reply actions

Nice run by Manuel after the big penalty.

by peachy rex on Nov 28, 2009 4:26 PM EST reply actions

I’d rather the refs let borderline calls go for both teams – unless someone’s really pushing the envelope all game. (Like persistent fouling in soccer.)

by peachy rex on Nov 28, 2009 4:28 PM EST up reply actions

I just shocked

that enough people watch enough of it to be able to complain about things like persistent fouling…

by allhailcale on Nov 28, 2009 4:34 PM EST up reply actions

Persistent fouling is actually a yellow-cardable offence – if a guy’s been going at it for most of the game, without ever committing a really bad foul, the ref will eventually book him.

by peachy rex on Nov 28, 2009 4:36 PM EST up reply actions

I watch it when I can, but Villa’s hardly ever on ESPN (and almost always at a godawful time.) I did catch the great game against Liverpool early this season, though.

Steve Addazio deserves to be fired.

Both for his playcalling, and his destruction of a talented O Line. By far, the most disappointing unit for me this year. They were supposed to be a strength.

another missed holding call...

Cooper pulled another jersey over the shoulder pads…..no call.

by allhailcale on Nov 28, 2009 4:42 PM EST reply actions

And that’s why Riley Cooper is going to make his professional money as a baseball player… and that’s why Hernandez will likely be a first round pick whenever he comes out.

by peachy rex on Nov 28, 2009 4:53 PM EST reply actions

He probably would've gone this past year...

if he hadn’t been picked by the Rangers…..that outfield is going to be crowded for a while…

by allhailcale on Nov 28, 2009 4:55 PM EST up reply actions

I don’t think Hernandez even had to break a tackle – the defenders all took bad angles or were faked out or just plain missed.

by peachy rex on Nov 28, 2009 4:55 PM EST reply actions

I don’t think any team gets the shovel pass called against them more often than FSU… and it always works. Though FSU’s team-wide defensive commitment to sucking helped a lot on the last one – that was merely a first down against a D that doesn’t fall over its own feet like a three stooges routine.

That's because Mack gave Nike an ultimatum...

basically said don’t mess with it too much or we ain’t doing it. I’m kinda glad. They looked SO much better than Va Tech’s version…

by allhailcale on Nov 28, 2009 7:21 PM EST up reply actions

Definitely some mixed results. Florida’s were OK – I didn’t like the white stripe curving across the butt, and the spirograph could have been replaced by something more topical, like gator scales. (Nike has done that for the basketball unis.) Also torn on the helmets – the alt version was actually quite nice, but I happen to like the standard version, which has a lot of brand equity now.

So – if Arky wins who gets into the Cap One?

by peachy rex on Nov 28, 2009 7:17 PM EST reply actions

That's got to be the nightmare scenario for Slive and Co.

If Tennessee and Georgia were also to win, literally every bowl-eligible team in the conference would be available to the Cap One.

I dunno...

while my knee-jerk reaction is a resounding ABSO-FREAKIN-LUTELY, Bulldog nation is going into this one pretty pessimistically. Me being the eternal optimist, I go into each game expecting to win. Needless to say, it’s been a long season. On the whole, I think it’s a bit of an overstatement, but a win at Bobby Dodd (where the nerds haven’t won since 1999 against us) would not only lessen the sting (no pun intended) of a disappointment of a season, but would give us serious momentum going into next year with a TON of players returning…

by allhailcale on Nov 28, 2009 8:01 PM EST up reply actions

A win would really help with bowl positioning too – if Tenn wins and UGA loses, the Dawgs would be tail-end Charlie in the SEC’s bowl eligible teams. But a rousing win – the best of the day for the SEC if you guys spring the upset – could potentially leave you behind only LSU and Ole Miss.

Herbstreit says he talked to Stoops today and said that Stoops said he had not been contacted by Notre Dame nor had Stoops’ agent. GaTech has two dirty little secrets – first, their defence isn’t really that hot, and second, their offence is more about scheme than talent. Every so often they bump into someone with superior personnel who isn’t fooled by the triple-option… and they get thumped.

Wasn’t expecting UGA to be one of those someones – but hey, no-one was expecting LSU to be one of them either.
