Okay, Relax Y'all
I didn't expect people to get all worked up over a poll ballot in week 6, but I probably should have realized that it was coming. In recognition that it's probably too early in the season yet to go 100% on stats since some teams have only three (USF) or four (Florida, et. al.) games against I-A teams, I'm goingto do some more curating to my half of the ballot. Consider this morning's post a draft.
- Florida
- Alabama
- Virginia Tech
- Texas
- Iowa
- TCU
- LSU
- Oregon
- Ohio State
- Boise State
- Miami (FL)
- USC
- Notre Dame
- Nebraska
- Cincinnati
- Kansas
- BYU
- USF
- Pittsburgh
- South Carolina
- Penn State
- Oklahoma
- Auburn
- Georgia Tech
- Utah
Changes:
- Bama above VT, for obvious reasons.
- Texas above Iowa, since Texas looks better on week-to-week basis.
- LSU up to 7: shouldn't be penalized too much for losing to No. 1.
- Miami up to 11: for some nice wins.
- USC up to 12 and Oklahoma down to 22: in recognition of wins and losses.
- South Carolina at 20; CMU out: SC is a better 5-1 team.
Any other complaints? If not, then this'll go final.

Texas...
looks like Hell. Colorado (let’s admit it, is terrible) was able to run the ball at will in the first half, and consistently shut down the “running game” of UT, as well as the all-bubble screen offense of UT. Too bad we won’t find out what a fraud Texas is until the Bowls…that whole league is terrible.

It was a look ahead game since the Red River Shootout is this week. I’ll give anyone one of those.

There now
was that so hard?
Personally, I would have been satisfied if with your original post, you kept the order the same, but posted above it “Here’s where I disagree with the results of my system.”
As far as not expecting people to get so excited about a week 6 poll, how long have you been covering college football again? :)

Wow
I’ve had run-ins with the Bama faithful over the BlogPoll before (some of you might remember the Alabama-vs.-Florida argument that raged for a couple of posts last year), but this was fast and ferocious.
I should first apologize to Year2 in this comment. My intent in voicing my disagreement was not to encourage everyone to descend on the site with pitchforks and torches. I think the comments questioning Year2’s ability to remove his Florida blinders were way overblown, given that he has always been as objective as any college football fan, self included, can expect to be.
I do think this is more reasonable for the tweaks it makes. I think most of the formula was sound, though I’m still not entirely sold on the SSOS, but the sample size is a problem. (It’s probably too early in the season to be weighting the win percentage when there are undefeated teams like South Florida that haven’t proven very much of anything.) I also think this is why Brian encourages the curating of any numbers created by a computer poll, especially early in the season.
But the intent, I think, is a good one on Year2’s part. Let’s not forget that, ultimately, his stats poll is going to be combined with my subjective poll and that should balance things out nicely once the formula has enough numbers to make sense.
That said, Alabama fans should be forewarned. It’s not going to be that long before I move Florida into the No. 1 place on my ballot, assuming they keep winning. So you might have to be attacking me in the next few weeks.

well, that's partly my fault...
for posting this on RBR. but keep in mind, most of the criticisms have less to do with bama homerism than seeming contradictions in the method of the selection.
basically, TSK excoriates the coaches for illogical poll voting and then offers up it’s own poll that provides and even more skewed perspective of things but claim that’s OK because there is a “method.”
bottom line, the game is played to win points. and if there is no component that expresses the outcome of that test conducted weekly around the league, then the poll does not do us a hell of a lot of good at comparing the teams in any realistic manner. it’s some stripe of power poll at best.
p.s. i personally do not find Y2 or TSK is victim of any type of fan bias. in fact, i’m suspect of such allegations since they tend to reveal a lack of substance in the objection to the work done here.

I will not be attacking you...
…even if you move Florida to #1 and that’s coming from as big a homer as you’ll ever find. If we both keep winning, 1 and 2 are pretty interchangeable. It will all be decided on the field and that’s all I want or care about. WITH Tebow on the field.
You had me at "ROLL TIDE"!!!
