A new collective bargaining agreement between the NFL and its players’ union could be negotiated before the 2010 draft, and the owners are expected to push for a rookie wage scale that would reduce the money that goes to high draft picks. It’s anyone’s guess whether the owners will be able to wrest such a concession from the union. But the mere possibility has not escaped the notice of [Matt] Stafford, [Knowshon] Moreno and other underclassmen considering the 2009 draft.

The key phrase is “high draft pick” – unless NFL opinions of Tebow change considerably in the next couple of months, that’s not a term that’s going to apply to him. The whole point of the wage scale is to rein in the lavish first contracts given to the top fifteen or so, and its effect should be much less dramatic as you pass out of the first round and contract values drop precipitously.
I doubt Tebow gives much of a damn about money.
He’ll probably walk into negotiations and be like: “I want one million – wait, no. ONE BILLION DOLLARS… to go to a charity of my choice every year.” And he’ll probably be sitting across from either a dumbfounded Parcells (takes Brown’s spot in the Wild-Dolphin) or [hopefully] Angelo, who will be taking breaks during negotiations to call potential new coaches.
